2014 Mazda6 Wagon RevealedMazda Motor Corporation held a ceremony to commemorate the start of production of the new Mazda6, fully redesigned for the first time in five years. A wagon counterpart was revealed on-site.

The ceremony took place at the company’s Hofu Plant No. 2. Approximately 500 people gathered for the celebration. The first vehicle to come off the line was a Mazda6 wagon built to European specifications and powered by the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline engine.

Mazda CX-5 Increases Production, SkyActiv Doubles

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 in red.Mazda has decided to increase production capacity of its new crossover, the Mazda CX-5, from 200,000 units to 240,000 units per year. Upgrades to the assembly line will enable an increase in SKYACTIV products. The move is made in response to strong demand for the CX-5 in countries all over the world.

On top of that, Mazda plans to double the annual production capacity of SKYACTIV Engines, meaning 800,000 of these efficient and powerful engines will be built per year.

A glimpse of the 2013 MX-5 Miata.The latest incarnation of Mazda’s MX-5 Miata has just hit the market in Japan as the 2013 Roadster. The refreshed two-seater open-top sports car is likely to migrate overseas in the near future, giving U.S. MX-5 fans something to anticipate.

The design of the upgraded MX-5 Miata distinguishes between the sporty character of the soft top and the refined character of the power retractable hard top through the use of coordinated black and silver features respectively. The front face of both versions has been redesigned to present a more aggressive look.

Powerful Mazda MX-5 GT Wows Goodwood

How does a Mazda MX-5 Miata with 205 horsepower, an upgraded suspension, a carbon fiber front splitter, and a rear diffuser and spoiler sound to you? It sounded pretty good to the attendees of the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend, zooming out of the dreams of car-lovers everywhere and on to the pavement.

Mazda just debuted its road-legal MX-5 GT Concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Mazda MX-5 GT Concept was shown off throughout the festival on Mazda’s stand. It also conquered a hillclimb in the ‘First Glance’ category.

J.D. Power Study: Mazda Brings Quality

Mazda North America ranks third among non-premium automotive brands, according to the recently announced J.D. Power and Associates 2012 U.S. Initial Quality Study. At 97 problems per 100 vehicles, MNAO improved three PP100 in the annual study and ranked 10th overall.

“To build a great vehicle, you must focus on more than one aspect of the car,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO. “Everything requires absolute attention – every bolt, every wire, every stitch. And when all the pieces come together, the final product performs on-point every day for the customer, just as it did the first day the vehicle was driven off the dealership lot.”

2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata One of 10 Best Road Trip Cars

The 2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata was named among the 10 Best Road Trip Cars in this year’s Kelley Blue Book list. Also, earlier in the year, MX-5 was the recipient of another Kelley Blue Book distinction – the inaugural Total Cost of Ownership Award in the Sports Car category.

According Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, MX-5 earned its spot because “whether tracing sinuous back roads or circling simple freeway on-ramps, few cars can better transform those arcs into pure joy than the Mazda MX-5 Miata.” This is MX-5’s second appearance on the 10 Best list, previously being named in 2007.

Skyactiv-D Coming to 2013 Grand Am

Mazda Motorsports announced that it will supply racing versions of its new SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engines to customer teams competing in GRAND-AM’s new GX Class for advanced/clean technologies, beginning with the 2013 season.

“This opens a new chapter in racing for us,” said Jay Amestoy, Vice President of Mazda Motorsports, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). “We’ve won with rotary technology, and now we’re looking to again put our customers in the winner’s circle with what we believe will be the most advanced and cleanest production-based powerplant the sport has ever seen.”

Supercharged MX-5 Miata Debuts in Leipzig

Mazda has unveiled a pair of special MX-5 Miata models just for the 2012 Leipzig Motor Show, including a supercharged version of everyone’s favorite roadster. For the latter showcar, dubbed “Yusho,” Mazda has added a supercharger kit to boost the machine’s grunt to around 241 horsepower.

Mazda also threw in a new engine management system paired with a set of new fuel injectors and a free-flowing exhaust. This powerhouse also benefits from beefier Cosworth pistons and connecting rods, while a sport clutch handles dumping all that power onto the six-speed manual gearbox.
